There are two main sources of water for the timber industry: surface water and groundwater.

Surface water is from rivers and lakes, while groundwater comes from groundwater recharge wells.

The water quality is pretty good in most of the U.S., but when you look at the volume of surface water available, the problem becomes even more challenging.

Geological Survey indicate that in the first half of 2020, the total surface water resources in the United States fell by 1.4 million acre-feet, or 9.5 billion gallons, from January 1, 2020, to December 31, 2020.

Water resources that we depend on for drinking, cooking, bathing and other everyday activities fell by 2.5 million acre feet, or 13.7 billion gallons.

These figures represent the cumulative loss of surface and groundwater water resources during that period.

So when does water become scarce?

When is it not available?

When the amount of surface surface water in a forest is low, it becomes hard to fill it up.

This is especially true if the forests are old and need a lot of work to be restored to their natural state.

In these cases, the forest needs to be managed to meet water needs and reduce the amount that it can flood.

The best way to manage a forest can be through irrigation or with a flood control system.
