The Football Italian can reveal that Italy’s youth national team is set to get some early training ahead of its first game against Greece in the Euro 2020 qualifiers.

With the World Cup underway, the first-team squad is set for a long and arduous wait, with Italy’s first-choice midfielders, Leonardo Bonucci and Mario Mandzukic, yet to have been fully assessed.

“We’re just now starting the medical,” the squad’s medical officer, Marco Gattuso, told the Italian newspaper La Repubblica.

“The first day we’re going to see Mandzuka and Bonucci.

We’re not expecting them to be available for the start of the game.”

But, we are hoping for the best.

“Gattuson added that the squad would be assessed in three to four days.”

It’s not just the players who are ready for the first game, but also the coaches,” he added.”

In general, the coaches are the ones who are prepared for this situation.

“And they’ll have to prepare their players to perform the job that they have been asked to do.”

Italy are currently in Group D alongside Hungary, Croatia, Slovakia and Romania.
