The Alabama Forestry Association has announced plans to build a new outdoor farm in the state’s south.
The association has been working to build its new farm in an area of farmland where it has seen a significant increase in the number of cases of coronavirus.
The farm will have an open floor plan, and it will be able to host up to 12 trees.
The association’s president, John Gant, says the farm is expected to be open by the end of next year.
“We’re going to be a very large-scale, large-capacity facility, and I think we’ll have the largest open-air farm in Alabama, the biggest farm in America,” he told ABC News.
The ALA farm will feature a large outdoor mulcher, with a capacity of 1,000 trees, and a solar heating system.
Gant says the association has invested $1 million in the farm, with more than half of that coming from private donors.
“This is one of those things where we’re able to take the risk that we can go ahead and build the farm in our community and get it going,” he said.
The organization is currently building its first facility in the south, in Mobile, Alabama.
Gants said the ALA plans to open another one in the north in the near future.
The Farm is part of the ALAA’s efforts to get more people vaccinated and is expected, once the outbreak is over, to have about 20 to 25 trees, Gant said.
